Welcome to St Charles Borromeo &
Our Lady Queen of Peace Ryde-Gladesville Parish

On 24 May 2015, we celebrated the birth of our new Parish of St Charles Borromeo and Our Lady Queen of Peace Ryde-Gladesville. It is also the Feast of Our Lady Help of Christians, Patron of Australia. It begins a new chapter in the sacred story of St Charles Borromeo and Our Lady Queen of Peace communities, which cease to be separate and individual parishes. The futures of our communities are now intimately linked as in a marriage. We are supported by our parish priest Fr Richard Gates and Fr Peter Kwak our assistant priest.

An Important Announcement

As some parishioners may have been on holidays, Fr Richard has asked that the following statement that was read out at all Masses last weekend be placed in the parish bulletin.

After much prayer and discernment over the last few months I have been in discussions with the Vicar-General of the Archdiocese and have tendered my resignation as Parish Priest of Ryde-Gladesville.

This is due to health reasons and I have asked to have some time on lesser duties living elsewhere and then moving to a smaller parish as Parish Priest in due course.

The process to find a new parish priest has begun for the Parish of Ryde-Gladesville and has been advertised to the priests of the Archdiocese.

I would like to make it clear that this has been my own decision which I have made freely after much prayer.

As has been planned for several months I will be taking the rest of my annual leave as of Sunday 9 October to 23 October inclusive and then return here to Ryde-Gladesville until a new parish priest is appointed which may take a few weeks.

I would ask for your patience at this time while the process continues to appoint a new Parish Priest.

Fr Richard
